The images horrifying. The aggression evil. The suffering heartbreaking. One ignorant news “report” that Americans are only concerned about gas prices. Get off the TV. You know nothing about what is in our hearts. The shock of the invasion now playing out before our eyes. We feel helpless and powerless.
I personally know someone who is not. A friend and colleague, Dr. Chris Jahraus’ story is posted in people.com. Chris fights for cancer patients daily. He advocates to pressure the government to care for you, not insurance companies. He is spearheading a committee to formulate guidelines for treatment with the American College of Radiation Oncology.
While Doc Chris works diligently for his cancer patients, he also quietly extends his personal life to others. Dr. Jahraus is actively engaged with adopting a nine year old child from the Ukraine into his family. A boy falsely labeled “mentally retarded” because the orphanage has no resources to manage ADHD. Chris was not rescuing him from a war. He was just hoping to bring him to the US for a better life when the invasion happened.
Dr. Jahraus, your success will be a small but significant example that hope can spring from tragedy and lift everyone battling evil. We stand with the brave people of the Ukraine and may God Bless the Bridges of Faith and your mission, my friend.
