Blue Moon

Every once in a blue moon……

No, even with all the recent news, this is not about delivering packages to the planned settlements on the moon! I am referring to the event this weekend of a blue ( it isn’t actually blue) moon. Between the winter solstice and equinox there are usually only three full moons, but when there is a fourth (only every two and one half years) the third is called the blue moon. This phenomenon doesn’t happen again until August 2021, so this weekend is pretty special.

Many of us use the phrase “once in a blue moon” often to describe something rare. If an event happens in your life every 36 months then that would qualify. I decided that it is time for us to do some homework (or self-work) and use this celestial event to our benefit. Its a gift really so why not tap into this positive force?

If you want to play along, think about what you do once in a blue moon. There are many activities we enjoy but we rarely get around to. May I suggest a project this week? Think of things you might do to lift your spirit. Consider many options: getting a facial, jumping the waves with a child, call an old friend, get a shave with that haircut, be unplugged on a long walk. I can hardly stop thinking of ways we could “treat” ourselves, but so rarely do.

Then choose one and actually do it. You might even find a way to incorporate this into your life to continue to enhance your well being. Surprise yourself. Feel the energy and have faith in it. Be assured that your own intuition will lead you to something wonderful even just for a day. No pressure.

Let the full moon guide you as it does the tides. Don’t be shy, be excited. Believe that you are reading this for a reason. There is change happening for you now- don’t wait for the cancer to be done or the recovery to be full or the next scan. Don’t let selfish disease keep you from caring for yourself. Consider doing something now that you usually do once in a blue moon. Take the gift of this event, open it. Explore, enjoy and have a blast. No space rockets required.
